Chrysler/Fiat Speeds Things Up A Bit
Of the three domestic automakers Chrysler has been labeled as the weakest. It’s product pipeline had run dry after double whammy ownership whiplash with Daimler and Cerberus. As as we all know, product is king.
In an article by Alisa Priddle for the Detroit Times, Fiat backed Chrysler describes plans to accelerate launches for new and significantly freshened models. The vehicles include new Dodge and Chrysler sedans that could be in showrooms as early as the fourth quarter of 2011. Other products include replacements for Compass and Patriot.
The compact car segment is critical and no doubt they see the handwriting on the wall with the upcoming Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus and Honda Civic. The only new products on the near horizon are the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (side photo) and small Fiat 500 (above). GC lands in June, 500 at the end of the year.
