2010 Honda Civic Hybrid

A battery-electric vehicle and a new plug-in hybrid from Honda will both be coming to the U.S. market in 2012, according to plans announced July 20, 2010 by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., president and CEO Takanobu Ito. Honda’s first application of a lithium-ion battery will arrive in the next-generation Civic Hybrid, due in 2011.

Honda will begin a battery-electric vehicle demonstration program in the U.S by the end of 2010 and continuing through 2011. Participants will include Stanford University, Google Inc. and the City of Torrance, Calif. The first vehicle will be delivered to the City of Torrance by the end of 2010.

In 2012 Honda will introduce a battery-electric commuter vehicle to the U.S. market. The new plug-in hybrid system also scheduled for the U.S. market in 2012 will be designed for mid-size to larger vehicles.
