Driven Digital Short- The Heart of Racing

People always ask me what stories have been my favorite.  This one, The Heart of Racing certainly rates in the Top 10.  I’ve always meant to share it with you and since I have been knocked completely flat by a nasty cold bug this week, it’s a perfect opportunity to post it.

The Heart of Racing follows Team Seattle through the 2007 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona Beach.  If you’re not familiar with them, they don’t just race, they also collect pledges along the way to raise money for Seattle’s Children’s Hospital (these days known as Seattle Children’s).  To date they’ve raised over $4,000,000 for the Kami Rene Sutton Heart Center.  And if you think Team Seattle is only about a warm fuzzy feeling, know that they compete fiercely, winning in the GT class.

This digital short will introduce you to Don Kitch Jr., Kami Sutton and the many supporters of Team Seattle.  I was allowed complete access during the race and captured some amazing people doing some amazing things.  While the video doesn’t do justice to the dozens of people who are the soul of this organization, it will give you an idea of their passion and commitment to Seattle Children’s and the sport of racing.

Special thanks to everyone on the team for all the rides on the golf carts (Daytona is a big place people) and to my good friend Jim Dever for narrating the story.  I had the time of my life, made a lot of friends, and even won an Emmy for this story.   It will always be one of my favorite pieces.  Hope you enjoy it!
