A Note From Tom

Hi folks,

You might be wondering why there haven’t been any new videos posted so here’s an update-

There’s a lot happening. I’ve bought a new camera that’s quite different from my old one. I’m also switching editing programs which has been a bit of a learning curve and there’s been an uphill climb to get graphics and elements integrated. All that plus I have a daughter who’s off to college and various other crazy things happening in my life.

So I’m taking a short break just because I’ve been producing these videos for eight years. Yes, it’s a lot of fun, but it can be quite daunting. I actually went to a movie a few nights ago. In a theatre. Did you know they have 3D now?

I’ll have new episodes soon but I just wanted you all to know what’s happening. Thanks for watching! TV

    Hey Tom,
Happy to hear you’re having a good time off while we patiently wait for you’re return… any truth to the rumors that with your new camera and software you’ll be producing 3D podcast? :)

BTW, how about a clue as to the upcoming review you’re working on…

    • TV says:

Wow, I have rumors about my reviews? Sorry, 3D is not an option.

The next review should be done in a week or so and it involves a Chevy on the opposite power and fuel economy spectrum as he the Volt.

    Tom –

I hope you are enjoying your much deserved break. I still say you do the best video-based car reviews anywhere. I hope the new camera and software works well.

      Thanks everyone,
I should have the next review up sometime after Labor Day. The editing is getting the best of me. I’ve been using the same program for 8 years and it was completely second nature. Final Cut Pro X is a whole new way of doing things. Kind of fun really. In the meantime, hope you’re all having a great summer.

Thanks for the update. I was starting to wonder. Glad to hear you are (hopefully) getting a little rest. I’ve been enjoying your reviews for a little over a year. I’ll keep checking back.

    Hi Tom,

    Like those above, THANKS!

I’ve been watching car reviews and look at cars for about two years now, i’ve been following you every week for the past year. I’ve finally come into a position where I can buy a NEW car. I remember test driving cars the last time I got a used one, maybe 4 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing on a test drive Thanks to you I’ve driven at least 8 New and used cars/SUVs (Nissan, Kia, Mercedes, Audi, Mazda, GMC) with a scientific approach. I was really able to concentrate on the driving aspects, knowing now what I was looking for. I was able to critique the cars and SUVs down to the fundamental question, “will I still want to drive this car in the next 5, 7, 9 years from now.” The answer, the one I always kept coming back to, The Mazda CX-5, which I knew very little about before your review. I now have one on order and i’m looking forward to the next many years with it. Your hard work has made a big difference in how I made my decision, I can’t thank you enough!. -Ryan

Just glad to see you did the research. Many people don’t. It’s what I always stress- Buy the car you love. You’ll take better care of it and keep it longer which makes it the best deal.

    Hi Tom,
I’m also curious to see your wonderful video reviews, but to keep you in healthy condition a little vacation is necessary as well! So, hope to see your next video review after your return!

All the best and many regards from Germany,

Thanks for the update Tom, I’ve been looking every day to see if a new review is up! (yes I’m the one skewing your website statistics…)

Real life is more important than whatever fun stuff we get into so you’ve got your priorities straight.
