Well… That Was Interesting

As many of you know, Driven Car Reviews was hacked on Friday. Trust me, it’s not a great feeling to see a couple years of work hijacked by people with questionable taste in graphics and poor grammar. Thanks to the folks at Host Gator for tracing down the problem and restoring my site right back to where it once was. If you’re looking for a hosting service, I highly suggest looking them up.

Since they gained access through a flaw in the forums, I’ve had to shut them down. Sorry. It’s not as if there was tons of traffic in them. If you need to ask a question, use the new “contact us” tab on the header or post it on any review. It’s easy for me to keep track of it on the site.

Also, I’ve had to delete a number of users that appear to be malicious. My apologies if you’re affected. Just re-register if you’ve been deleted.

To all of you who wrote to inform me that my website was hacked I just want to say thanks. Nice to know you’re all looking out for me. Time for me to get going on the next video review.

    Hey I reported it to Homeland Security because it sounded like they were targeting the Government. I hope the website is doing better. I think you videos are great and I hope you continue.

    Glad to see everything is back up and running Tom. Nothing like something like this to hammer home the importance of backups! Glad everything was able to be restored and nothing was lost.

    I have to admit, the forums never had a lot of activity in them so I won’t really miss them. I prefer using the comment sections to reply to the videos directly, and I’ll have to give the Contact Us button a test one of these days.

    Wow, the website was restored earlier than I thought it would be. Host Gator knows their stuff.

    While I posted a handful of times in the forums, I have to admit, I might end up preferring the Contact Us feature a bit more, as I’ve had a few questions that were more message-friendly than forum-friendly (not saying I couldn’t post them in the forum , but I’d just prefer to use a message). Reminds me of the older video reviews where you’d give a link to your news channel site at the end and mention that there’s a link to your email address there, haha.

    Glad to see the site is back up and running.
