Tesla Motors Inc. and Toyota Motor Corporation announced an agreement to develop an electric version of the RAV4.
Toyota and Tesla have announced they will be working together to develop electric vehicles, parts and production systems. With the agreement, Toyota will purchase $50 million of Tesla common stock. Mr. Toyoda says in a press release “Decades ago, Toyota was also born as a venture business. By partnering with Tesla, my hope is that all Toyota employees will recall that ‘venture business spirit, and take on the challenges of the future.”
Toyota sales increased by 35 percent for March compared to the same period last year, as reported by The DetroitBureau. Preliminary numbers put Toyota ahead of Ford for the month, trailing only General Motors in total sales for March.

With a group of non car geeks last night the conversation turned to this- Should Toyota change it’s ad slogan considering recent events? If you don’t remember it’s “Moving Forward”. Not particularly memorable but lately it’s been used by comedians and carttonists in ways you can probably imagine. So, what do think? Should the slogan be changed?

Just as Toyota begins to impliment repairs to address issues with the accelerator pedal in a number of Toyota models, the National Highway Traffic Safety Admininstration (NHTSA) announced it is opening a formal investigation of the 2010 Toyota Prius to look into allegations of momentary loss of braking capability while traveling over an uneven road surface, pothole or bump.
